  • The way I see it

Instead of ranting on about the things I was going to rant about today, I thought I'd share some cartoons that best describe my feelings instead...

As you can see I'm not too excited at how the government is handling the economy right now. Namely I'm disappointed that they're trying to handle it at all. With their amateurish touch the markets have succeeded in falling lower than the market needed to correct itself.

Even though I'm not rich, I'm still a capitalist and think the socialist wave sweeping this nation bodes evil for all who love freedom. I love America. I adore the Constitution. And I fear my government.

But lest we get tangled in the rumble strips of life, I'll end this post on a happy note!

"I love America. I adore the Constitution. And I fear my government."

    Amen to that.

  • The_Ragged_Edge

And amen again.  Sometimes those comics just do the best job of saying it all.  It's amazing where we've gone in 7 short weeks now....the crazies are in charge and it seems there is nothing the citizens can do.  I've been struggling with the fear part...Got to find a balance between reading about the next horrible thing Hussein has  done (stem cell research today; can't wait to see what tomorrow brings) and trusting God for my family's future.

"He's a good christian man"..that was the mantra of almost all  the 20-somethings at my church....        They won...and America lost.

    Good to see you!

  • thetentguy

@The_Ragged_Edge - I certainly feel where you're coming from! It seems that fear is a dominating factor in everyone's lives these days. Fear is a healthy emotion as long as it is understood that something must be done to avoid that circumstance which is feared.

If we are doing all we can do to change the world around us for the better, then we have nothing to fear but fear itself (said like a true Democrat, not the cheap phonies they've turned into these days).

Let us prepare for hardship the best we can because it is coming, and in many cases, is already here. But therein lies our key to overcoming- we are active in being part of the solution and not the problem!

There is hope with a lowercase O after all! We can still change things. We are still The People. Write letters to your congressman, volunteer at local helps ministries, practice honesty and conscientious fiscal responsibility. Get with the people. We who disagree with the New Socialism are the grassroots now, which is where ideas are born.

As to those young people who blindly follow Obama, it's ok. They have good motives and good hearts. In time the true agenda of this man will come out and those with open minds and honest consciences will see things from a more mature perspective, wraught out of pain though it might be.

"Do not fear little flock, for it is your Father's good pleasure to give you the Kingdom!"

Funny how everyone's so easily forgotten what "crazies in charge" got us here in the first place for the last 8 years. Seriously, should anyone have expected that a mere 2 months of a presidency would somehow immediately remedy the monumental financial damage that was done by a big-business-first government that allowed big business to run amok for 8 years? And to hear Christian radio talk show hosts and Republican pundits instilling fear into the public with admonitions of "I told you so" and doomsday scenarios so early into a presidency is not only insulting to the general public's IQ, but terribly irresponsible.

I love this country. For 8 years, we were told that we were in good hands, for us to trust the government. Now, look at where we are. In just 2 short months, people (especially many Christians who happen to be Republicans) are going ape nuts over what a terrible job Obama's done already. Incredible. In light of the God's Word telling us to trust in those whom He's placed over us to rule here on earth (a refrain repeatedly told to us who distrusted the Bush presidency), it amazes me the tremendous turn-around I've seen in those same Christians right now. Sad.

  • justhopingnow

Enuf said. Thank you. I will always stand by my country.  Well, as long as "we" support Israel. It is horrible how going to church can be scary now days. Please come by and see what I will be doing at our church for Easter. God Bless, Sharon

Sorry, I have been away for a while--too much negative has been going on.

  • Singing4God8692

Amen to that. What I've said before is that I love my country; it's the government that unnerves me.

@athanasius2k4 - I believe, regardless of who they are, that we're commanded to respect, submit to, and pray for the leaders in charge, because God has allowed them to be put there for a reason. But I don't at all think that we should (or are charged to by God's word) put our trust in them. Our trust should be in God alone. He will take of us the way He sees fit, no matter what happens in this world.

  • Amanda_Barber

    That about sums it up.

  • thetentguy

@athanasius2k4 - I haven't forgotten the crazies who were in charge. Where did you get the idea that I agreed with everything the Bush admin did? That's what worries me about people who blindly assume that Obama is the Messiah, they're guilty of the same thing they accuse conservatives of; blind trust.

I'm not expecting Obama to work miracles. But you need to study some facts. Every time the man opens his mouth the market drops. If anything, he's not helping matters with his agenda (or should I say Pelosi's agenda). If you'd like to have a debate on the facts in regards to the bailouts and the merits of that logic on strictly financial terms, I'm open to that. Would love that.

As to Christians being fearmongers, I don't disagree with you. They're simply preaching the same message as Obama is. Some of which could become true if we keep preaching it! Some balance is needed on both sides.

Have a great day and thanks for stopping by. :)

@Singing4God8692 - @athanasius2k4 - Great word there. Very true! Thanks for stopping by!

  • thetentguy

@justhopingnow - Good to "see" you again! Hope all is well with you. It is scary for sure. The recent shooting in the church is not a pleasant topic. Would have been nice if a licensed concealed carry holder was present to prevent such a catastrophe!

Do you mean my blog has been too negative or just things in general? I've been trying to keep things more positive with a steady eye to reality. Hopefully you don't mean this blog. :)

    Have a great day!

  • SpazzyMommy

I always so enjoy your blog. :)

  • justhopingnow

Sorry...ryc: I referring to myself.  So many things have been going on that are well very negative in my life...so I have been trying to not cast a negative to anyone!  I try so hard to shine my light and keep the FAITH.  God Bless you always dear friend, Sharon

  • thetentguy

@justhopingnow - Hey, we've all had rough seasons! Praying that God pours out His loving kindness over you and blesses you with the gift of peace inside from outer turmoil. Hope it gets better for you! :)

  • TABolty

Comics are like poetry in that so much can be said with few words.

I'm praying that God's people have the good sense and faith to do what is needful and of Him in these coming days!

  • thats_italian

These cartoons are a great illustration of what is transpiring. Pictures speak louder than words so many times.

Hope you are having a great day, AngelGuy. : )  Hope the cookie stash is holding out!   ; )

Many blessings to you, and many, many accolades coming your way...Your Royal Geekness. : )

@athanasius2k4 - Where, exactly, does God's Word tell us to "trust those He's put in authority over us?"  God's Word tells us to trust in Him alone.

  • SirNickDon

@Papillon_Mom - He just got the principal word - "trust" - wrong.  Rom. 13 tells us that God ordains all governments, so some who subscribe to a blueprint plan of history take it to mean that God micromanages the national policies of each country, in and through who their leaders are at any given time.  If you subscribe to a blueprint view of history, it makes sense to trust whoever is President, because whether they make the economy worse or better, it was God's decision.  John Piper, for instance, preached a sermon a few weeks back on why God has caused this recession.

The word is not "trust," though; it is "submit."

  • homefire

Good cartoons here.  The last one at least made me laugh.  The others...sigh.

  • The_Ragged_Edge

@thetentguy - You sir have some most excellent insight.  I do believe at least some of those 20-somethings will see the light...at least to a certain degree...they hate abortion and there's just no way you can look at Obama and be okay with what's he's done.  It is unfortunate that so many of our Christian young people have been educated solely by the public schools and don't realize the propaganda they have been fed...as well as so lacking in a clear understanding of history, economics, biblical worldview...on and on it goes...there are a lot of folks out there who really do think the government should provide for them.   Thanks for your uplifting answer!

PS...Thanks for the great answer to Athanasius....very well done...I stand by my comments..the "crazies are in charge". There's just no reasonable way to blame all the craziness of the last 2 months on the Bush Administration...I will certainly give him his share though!

  • thetentguy

    @The_Ragged_Edge -

You hit something right on the head; the Darwinism so religiously taught in public school has paid off for the secularists big time. It's interesting how many of my generation are brainwashed and yet can't see it for the nose on their face... They claim enlightenment, but the light that has illuminated some of them is not the Light, it's a false sense of good that motivates them to artificial acts of correctness. In the end, that illumination is meaningless in light of eternity.

I'm afraid I didn't say enough in regards to the contradiction that is Christian liberalism.... And as to the crazies, there were only a few in the Bush admin with Bush only being "crazy" on a few occasions. Liberals often tend to conveniently forget that this recession is a result of liberal ideology. Fannie Mae and Freddie Mac were the creations of liberalism. Basically their mandate is to insure that high risk people don't have to pay their mortgages, while the working class gets to pay for both their own AND those of the lazy bums.

So in reality it is liberalism that is to blame for this recession, not Bush. Or big business. Let's face it, we're just jealous of others who are richer than us, that's all that sentiment is. Take a look at the markets and see when this last recession started- it started the minute the Dems took over the House and the Senate. It's stuff like this that ultra liberals just conveniently ignore while condescendingly claiming to be so much more intelligent than "those dumb conservatives".

I would love to debate Athanasius in an open forum about this as I believe this person to be misguided and uninformed, and a bit hasty to form their opinions.

But life goes on. We must all the more walk true to our core values as these times are times of great anger and fear. But we are to walk opposite these things and above this weather. :)

  • thetentguy

@TABolty - That's what I used to tell my mom when I was little and got a newspaper just to read the comics! But she always said I was wasting my time. Thank you for vindicating me. ;) lol!

  • thetentguy

@thats_italian - His Royal Geekness is pleased with the offerings of sweet discs of sugary goodness, so much so in fact that he eats one or two every morning when he wakes up with his first cup of coffee or tea; and when anyone else comes near the sacred box he lashes out in royal fury. :) Thanks to "the O girls" so much!

  • thetentguy

@SirNickDon - Interesting thoughts there. I'm not sure anyone can know God's exact ways in regards to events on a world scale, but those who believe in "the blueprint theory" certainly have a lot more to explain. I personally tend to think that God really digs free will and leaves gaps in history for us to fill. Yes, He has a Plan, yes He works all things together for good to those that truly love His ways. But we have a big part to play in the outcome of events from our sock drawer all the way to The White House. It is His way of growing us up and teaching us the meaning of Love.

    Thanks for stopping by!
